Learning motion design: Training through schools vs. self-training

Learning Motion Design can be done in various ways, whether through a specialized school or self-learning via online resources such as YouTube. Each of these methods has its advantages and disadvantages, and the choice will depend on your personal preferences, available resources, and career goals. Here's an overview of the two options:

Specialized School Training:

• Access to a structured and comprehensive program covering all aspects of Motion Design, including design principles, software, and advanced techniques.
• Guidance from experienced professionals active in the field, who can provide personalized feedback and advice.
• Networking opportunities with other students and industry professionals. Some institutions offer internships and collaboration opportunities with companies.

• Time constraints if you need to work part-time or have other commitments during your studies.
• Limited availability depending on your geographical location.

• Free or low-cost access to a plethora of tutorials, online courses, and educational resources.
• Total flexibility to learn at your own pace, according to your schedule and preferences.

• Ability to focus on specific areas of Motion Design according to your interests and needs.

My Feedback:
Personally, I began my journey through YouTube and then entered a design school in 2018. The school opened my eyes to subjects that I initially would never have explored, but I retained more knowledge from my self-learning because it was more targeted to my interests.
So overall, it's all a matter of preference. It's good to know that in a world as advanced as ours, everyone can learn with just a computer. Going to school doesn't guarantee a job when you leave.
Perhaps even worse in some cases, taking out a loan to pay off your studies will penalize you more than learning on your own. Once again, it all depends on your vision. Stay open-minded and keep learning!
